If you are fore some reason stuck with ubuntu 20.04LTS due to oem manufacturer limitations, this extension in combination with fusuma or touchegg application for touchpad gestures can bring you more modern user experiance. It: -Switches workspaces to horizontal layout, so you can scroll horizontally to switch workspaces -moves the workspace indicator to the center of top bar and system date and time to the left side (configurable in code) -adds transparency to top bar (configurable in code) -puts an indicator on the panel signaling in which workspace you are, and give you the possibility of switching to another one and rearranging windows by moving them to workspace (configurable in code). Tested on Gnome 3.36 Fork of Workspace Indicator by fmuellner. Please, feel free to test it on different versions of GNOME shell and report any errors.
