Look into ExtensionUtils (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/blob/master/js/misc/extensionUtils.js) and the getSettings function instead of rolling your own if at all possible and don't create your settings objects in init() per https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GnomeShell/Extensions/Review
