It can be approved since you can change the name on version 2 and no need to change the uuid but the name isn't really suited for a fork. Wanna change the name?
Hey, thanks for the review. I can't remember what text I submitted originally if any but yeah this is a fork of an existing extension that doesn't work with new versions of gnome and the original maintainer is AWOL and won't respond to any issues or pull requests. This is my first time submitting an extension for gnome so I appreciate any input and I'm happy to make any simple changes you recommend. So yeah no problem with renaming it but to what? There's already like 5 variations of this extension all from forks over the years to support the newer version.
Adding year or version at the end of the name won't be that much distinctive. Maybe "Maximize Into Empty Workspace" can be a bit more distinctive. That's my recommendation though, you can pick another name to your liking.
My thinking is that it shouldn't be distinctive, it's the exact same extension with the metadata updated. As a user it's more confusing to see the same extension with 5 different variation in names, not knowing which one is the newest. The best thing would be to take over the extension from the previous maintainer but since they are AWOL it's not possible for them to hand it over. Anyways, it doesn't make a big difference. If you prefer that I change the name to Maximize Into Empty Workspace I can do that no problem :)
Yes, you should change the name as we mentioned in the review guidelines: > If it is a fork of another extension it MUST have a unique name to distinguish it. [EGO Review Guidelines: Fork](https://gjs.guide/extensions/review-guidelines/review-guidelines.html#metadata-json-must-be-well-formed)
I see, thank you for your help! I uploaded a new version with a new unique name.
