Top-center notch/pill with a clock that expands into a compact, flat native-style tabbed layout: Tab 1 holds a small dense calendar, a compact notification list, and running-application icons with an Activities Overview button; Tab 2 is a minimal timer that sizes the panel to its own content. Icon-only quick actions; no cards or tiles. GNOME notifications are mirrored into the island (stock banners replaced by an island peek + list). Configurable panel background with smooth Overview transitions. GNOME Shell 51.
