Have you contacted the linux-deepin developer to discuss integrating your changes with his version?
No, I haven't. I'm very sorry. I thought it would be enough to explain, that this is the LinuxDeepin-Extension with few changes.
Exactly because this is their extension with few changes, you should try to integrate the changes rather than blindly forking.
Well, I think that the list of favorite applications is an explicit feature of their extension. They developed this extension for their gnome-shell version in the Deepin distribution since they also removed the favorites panel in the overview. Thus I think they will not be willing to remove the list of favorites. Another issue is, that their version is not comaptible with gnome-shell 3.4. I will contact the author and report his answer.
I tried to contact the author of the extension (tuhaihe), but he did not reply yet. I'm afraid he won't reply at all since one user complained about missing support in his comment on the original version. However, the original version is just compatible with Gnome 3.2. So the extension is missing for Gnome 3.4. The changed version is compatible with Gnome 3.4...
Hi everybody! Since the author of the extension (tuhaihe) did not reply yet, I contacted the person, who ported the extension to version 3.4 (url: https://launchpad.net/~yunnxx/+archive/gnome3/+build/3583440/+files/gnome-shell-extensions-dock-preview_3.4.004isopenisfreeprecise-1ubuntu1_all.deb), which is not on extensions.gnome.org yet. He agreed to release the changed version (without favorite apps) here. So, I think this is all I can do. Since the original version is not available for Gnome 3.4, one could say that this is a porting from Gnome 3.2 to Gnome 3.4 with few changes... All the best, UncleS.A.M
Sorry for the delay, was hoping magicus or someone else more in touch with the spirit of the rules would comment / approve / reject -- but since there's been nothing, I'm going to go ahead and approve it, since I havn't seen anything similar pass through the review process. Thank you for your patience.
Thank you very much! All the best, UncleS.A.M
