Why do you need keybindings in your extensions? Brightness is already handled by gnome-settings-daemon.
I know of no frontend that enables the user to specify *custom* keybindings. Besides, not every device offers fn hotkeys for brightness control. Moreover, some users aren't comfortable with the default hotkeys (e. g. because they require both hands like with the Thinkpad series). One of the current users explicitly asked for this feature: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/231/brightness-control/ .
Thanks! :)
