Not sure overwriting the user's clipboard is quite appropriate.
Only if they click on the result. It's a feature that has been requested. And if you think about it, it has uses. Most probably if you are converting some units, it is because you want to use the conversion for something. So your options are either to copy it to the clipboard or write it down someplace not on your computer since typing anything will cause the result to disappear. If you can think of a better method, I would happily implement it.
