Review of "Retro LCD 7-Segment Clock" version 78

Details Page Preview

Vintage digital display with a high-fidelity 7-segment look. 10 color themes, custom colors, ghost segments, CRT scanlines, desktop widget mode, a quick color-switch menu, a date tooltip on hover, and integrated alarms with an on-screen dialog so they're never missed. Draws its digits from SVG path data embedded in the extension's code (no system font installation needed) and plays alarms through GNOME Shell's native sound theme; no bundled audio, font or image files.

Whats new in v78? Fix: Retro LCD shadow no longer sticks out of the display. The offset is now scaled so that the maximum glow (5) looks like the old glow 2, and the 1–5 range is smoother. If you had glow set to 3–5 you will notice a shorter shadow. Fix: in the Vertical Panel Layout the digits now shrink on their own to fit the panel width instead of overflowing. The display also uses less side padding in this mode. It never grows beyond the font size you picked. Fix: Bold and Italic Bold now thicken each segment only along its middle, leaving the tips and corners alone, so the gaps between segments stay clear instead of blurring together. The middle segment now has the same thickness as the others. Minor: the clock now refreshes at least once per second, so the minute (and the minute flicker) no longer arrives up to 10 seconds late when seconds and blinking separators are off. Minor: unchanged digits are no longer redrawn on every tick, which makes the blinking separators lighter.
